Very Important.
In Ashen Rayne, we're ...Important! Very Important.

In Ashen Rayne, we're playing around with a new loot system. Not sure if we're using it all the time now, but so far we haven't been using it in Naxx.

Right now, we just say something like, Tanks roll, or Ranged DPS roll. If no one rolls, then we say Off-Spec role.

The new system is something like, you get a point (or 2, I'm not sure exactly as I haven't been present when it's been in use) for downing a boss. When you roll on a gear, if there are other people, points are compared. If you have less points, the item goes to them, but they spend a point(s).

Basically, if you don't roll on a lot of gear, or nothing drops for you, you're more likely to get gear you want when it does drop.

Granted, I'm not sure if the points reset from week to week, and I know we've been doing our 25mans with another Guild, so there's probably a bit more refinement going on with our loot system right now.Viktor Mayrinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16870330160859276804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9068318454011151792.post-74872519113781023322009-04-20T14:55:00.000-07:002009-04-20T14:55:00.000-07:00Yay!

We've had our share of individuals who felt disconnected and didn't know how to connect.

Most people who feel disconnected either learn to connect (through effort, advice, or both) or end up leaving, but in the second case it's usually that IVV isn't the right place for the individual. (If a guild doesn't fit you, it's natural to feel like an outsider.)

Most people who join IVV find their niche pretty quickly, but we can't boast 100% satisfaction. We try, but we're only human.

<3 Pete btw. Raid leaders with Awesome Aggro Action win!Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07275637177494490776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9068318454011151792.post-62876288803837143522009-03-26T11:10:00.000-07:002009-03-26T11:10:00.000-07:00You can extend the hand of friendship, but if some...You can extend the hand of friendship, but if someone ain't willing to take it, well... *shrugs

The Beauty of IVV is that we have surrounded ourselves with people who readily accept and deliver the hand of friendship. Whether it's through a nice greeting when you log on. Or a gift delivered in the mail just to say thanks; I believe everyone in IVV is able to feel connected and appreciated at some point during their online experience.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12935602146491149437noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9068318454011151792.post-45478010574142194042009-03-25T11:58:00.000-07:002009-03-25T11:58:00.000-07:00You can extend the hand of friendship, but if some...You can extend the hand of friendship, but if someone ain't willing to take it, well... *shrugs*Viktor Mayrinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16870330160859276804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9068318454011151792.post-41239919575058727222009-03-25T11:43:00.000-07:002009-03-25T11:43:00.000-07:00"in a healthy family guild the 'cliques' are not s..."in a healthy family guild the 'cliques' are not seperatist sects but members of nuclear families connected to one another in various ways to form 'The Family.'"

I agree 100%. I made a chart of who brought whom into IVV and while quite a few had multiple connections, only one full clique hadn't integrated -- the raiders who left in a minor exodus after Wrath. While a few people didn't have many connections at all, I found that almost everyone except Zackery and our first recruit had at least one friend who convinced them to join. And because of Zackery's quick assimilation and Recruit's long-term good standing, I concluded that the people who didn't take the time to cultivate their relationships were the ones who complained about feeling like outsiders.

I also want to note that most of the Well Connected people are the ones who reply when someone is feeling left out, but the Left Outs don't always follow our advice or accept our help when it's offered. It can actually be an ordeal trying to make someone feel more included if they're not willing to meet you half way.Bethhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07275637177494490776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9068318454011151792.post-73203860790084677762009-03-17T13:52:00.000-07:002009-03-17T13:52:00.000-07:00Make that a sixth who says allocating time to play...Make that a sixth who says allocating time to play is tough. Especially with only one computer in the house. My three sons all play. I'm pretty sure my daughter will . . . but she's not even two yet . . so, you know. For now she's happy to sit on my lap while I play, wave to my characters, blow kisses, make them jump and their horses whinny. Totally cute.

Come to think of it, that's another challenge. PvP with a 20 month old on your lap who wants to take control of the mouse. Talk about playing like a noob.

But yeah, the big issue is time. My kids get their play time in the afternoon after school. Saturdays they have first dibs on the computer. Evenings we usually do family/social things. Mostly, like Rich, I end up waiting to play until they're in bed.

I guess this makes me a fifth who'll let his kids play. Someday we'll get multiple computers in the house and I'm really looking forward to actually questing, running instances with my kids. I mean, it's great to have something in common we enjoy even when we if we're just parallel playing. Cooperative play with them is going to be just awesome.

And the game is such a great tool to teach them about so many things. Social skills, finances, planning, setting goals. Yes, I am concerned about some of the things they're exposed to in the game. Especially in chat. One more reason for me to pay attention to their play. More opportunities to teach them about appropriate and inappropriate behavior, IMO.Jackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09440513682491672661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9068318454011151792.post-26968009899052598182009-03-16T14:19:00.000-07:002009-03-16T14:19:00.000-07:00Awesome, keep up the good work!Awesome, keep up the good work!Erichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13211340368210264446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9068318454011151792.post-11796043017704081702009-03-14T08:37:00.000-07:002009-03-14T08:37:00.000-07:00*claps*I am heartily impressed by the dedication t...*claps*

I am heartily impressed by the dedication these folks have!
